Christmas: 5 Eco-Friendly Gift Ideas

– Seasonal #2 – In this post, I propose 5 eco-friendly gift ideas for your eco-friendly friend or for yourself, because there are so nice that we would like to keep them for ourselves;). Most of them are made in Canada or in Quebec because I believe it is important to encourage local businesses, and even more during a pandemic. However, note that some of the businesses that I present to you in this post also ship in the U.S. or worldwide.

  1. Daily essentials kit – HabitatBotanical – $49

Habitat Botanical is an eco-friendly company that creates homemade beauty products. Their daily essentials kit includes a deodorant, a shampoo bar, a conditioner bar, a body wash, and a lip balm. These products are all locally made in North America. The packaging is compostable, the products are vegan and cruelty-free, and made of natural clean ingredients. It is simply perfect and affordable!

2. Vegan leather products – Matt & Nat

Matt & Nat is a Montreal-based company that creates and sells bags, shoes, and accessories made of vegan leather. Their products are also cruelty-free and made with recycled materials. The company is now international with many stores in Canada, United-States, and some in Germany, UK, Japan, and Australia. Their bags are beautiful and have a simple design that fits with every outfit. Their products can be bought directly on their website, but they also sell them in other stores such as Simons, Bentley, Urban Outfitters, and Little Burgundy.

3. Non-toxic nail polish – BKIND – $16

BKIND is a vegan and cruelty-free company from Montreal. They make skin-care products and their mission is to offer natural and ethical products. Also, 2% of their sales go to organizations that help animals such as Blitz Rescue. Concerning their packaging, it is 100% recyclable and some of the cosmetic containers are made with plastic found in the oceans. BKIND sells a collection of beautiful nail polishes that are made without the toxic ingredients that can be found in nail polishes from pharmacies.

4. Local box – Sois écolo

Sois écolo is a business from Quebec that sells products from local businesses. They sell individual products, but also some themed boxes filled with products from local businesses. For example, their box for kids contains a bamboo toothbrush from Ola bamboo, some candies from C’est bonbon, a chocolate bar from Rochef, and a garden box from Mano verde. Sois écolo offers a lot of choices and is the perfect gift if you want to support local businesses! Note that they also sell some cause boxes where 30% of the purchase will be given to a local hospital, for example.
